Lucky Jack is a compelling documentary that chronicles the extraordinary journey of a man who, despite facing significant personal and societal challenges, transforms his life through unwavering willpower and the determination, and the pursuit of excellence.

Lucky Jack is executive produced by Steve Edwards, the subjects son, and the the film not only highlights his father and mothers inspiring story, but also delves into Edwards’ quest to understand and embody the concept of Arete, the ancient Greek philosophy of striving for one’s highest potential and moral virtue for the greater good.

The narrative follows a 30-year-old high school dropout from the Newark projects in New Jersey, who in 1966 with a wife and 2 children, smokes a joint, puts on Man of La Mancha’s “Impossible Dream,” dons a surgeons smock, and looks in the mirror and resolves himself to become a brain surgeon.

Against all odds, he becomes a neurosurgical resident at a top New York City hospital.

Lucky Jack is more than a documentary.

It’s a narrative that challenges viewers to reflect on their own lives and consider the possibilities that arise when one commits to personal growth and excellence through its powerful storytelling and authentic transformation. The film serves as a beacon of hope, and a call to action for anyone seeking to overcome adversity and achieve their highest and best sense of selves.
